「本格的な思考の発達」
筋道をたてて推論していく本格的な思考の発達が見られる時期です。自己中心性から脱却し、具体的経験に支えられた倫理的思考が可能になります。保存概念が確立し、物を作り上げることや、知的活動への欲求も増えます。自己統制のとれた比較的安定した姿を見ることができ、言葉の認知能力が発達し、学級や地域仲間集団との活動や大人との付き合いの広がりをみせます。さらに、待ったり我慢したりといったことができるようになります。
ギャングエイジとも呼ばれるこの時期は同姓の仲間からの承認や子供集団への所属欲求が強まります。メンバーが同じ興味・関心を持つことで閉鎖的で排他的なグループをつくったりもします。その中で、仲間の意見に従ったり、仲間からの承認に注意を払ったりといった社会生活で必要なことを学んでいくのです。
この年代では、多面的な運動神経を通してのコーディネーションの習得が中心となります。基本的なテクニックはサッカーをプレイしながら学びます。そして、ゴールデンエイジに向けてサッカーが好きでたまらないといった状態をつくることが大切です。また、成功経験を与えることによって、子供たちが生涯を通じてスポーツに取り組んでいく準備が出来るようにしてあげることが大事です。
